For the last few years, Team Divya Disha, headed by our Director, Mr Isidore Phillips, has an active role in the training sessions and facilitation of visits to Child Care Homes. We have been training senior Police Officers and Training Senior Police Officers and probationers.
Training Senior Police Officers: Missing Children
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy organized a course on “Missing Children” for serving officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police and above from 3 to 6 October 2017.
Mr Phillips, assisted by other members of Team Divya Disha, facilitated these two sessions:
1. Preventive Measures Concerning Missing Children
The concept of Child Protection, why children go missing, understanding the vulnerability of children and how preventive measures like community involvement and community policing were shared. This was based on Divya Disha’s work in prevention, community awareness and rescue of missing children over the years.
2. Rehabilitation of Rescued Children
Mr Phillips shared about having a rights-based approach to rehabilitation, rehabilitation protocols and how to communicate with children in general and age-specific communication. Divya Disha’s vast experience in the rehabilitation and repatriation of children, provided a lot of examples of what type of communication works and what doesn’t with missing and vulnerable children.
